Meeting with Katrina Brown, Director of Glasgow Festival of Visual Art, The Common Guild

Glasgow’s rich visual arts ecology is well known and there is always much to experience at any time of the year, but for two weeks every two years Glasgow International Festival of Visual Art brings the whole into sharp focus through a vibrant programme of exhibitions, live events, talks, screenings, public works and performances. Taking place across the city in a range of venues and locations, from established museums, (GoMA, Kelvingrove) to artist-run spaces and temporary sites, GI Festival is Glasgow’s renowned visual arts scene at its liveliest and best. Including new commissions and exhibitions by leading international and Glasgow-based artists, along with many new and emergent talents, the 2012 GI Festival is again under the direction of Katrina Brown. We will walk the city, taking in a range of projects, meeting gallery directors, curators and artists so gaining a deep understanding of how the Festival is developed and what the legacy is within the city as it grows in profile and visibility.
